Hydraulic dredge pump

The hydraulic dredge pump is a submersible dredging pump driven by a hydraulic motor.

Working principle of hydraulic dredge pump:

Hydraulic power source: A hydraulic dredge pump is powered by a hydraulic system, usually driven by an external power source, such as a hydraulic power station or a hydraulic excavator power pack.

Impeller and pump housing: Inside the dredge pump is impeller, which is a rotating device with blades that generate centrifugal force. The impeller is mounted in the housing which directs the water flow.

Suction and discharge: As the impeller rotates, an area of low pressure is created at the suction inlet. This causes water and sediment to be drawn into the pump through the suction port, through centrifugal action, the rotating impeller transfers energy to the water and sediment mixture, and due to centrifugal force, heavier solids are forced towards the outer edge of the impeller.

The mixture of water and dredged material is then discharged through the discharge of the pump, usually through a long discharge pipe, transporting the material to a designated disposal area or treatment facility.

Hydraulic dredge pumps used in dredging operations, which involve dredging and removing sediment, mud or other matter from the bottom of bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, harbors and channels. These pumps are designed to efficiently handle large volumes of water and solids.
