  2. Suction: The pump creates a vacuum or suction by rapidly rotating an impeller inside the pump casing. The impeller blades are designed to draw in water and sediment through the intake pipe, much like a centrifugal pump.
  3. Conveyance: As the water and sediment mixture is drawn into the pump, it enters the impeller housing. The rotation of the impeller imparts centrifugal force to the mixture, which pushes it towards the outer edges of the impeller housing.
  4. Discharge: At the outer edges of the impeller housing, the mixture is forced into a volute casing or discharge pipe. This casing gradually expands, converting the high-velocity, low-pressure mixture into a lower-velocity, higher-pressure flow.
  5. Transport: The pressurized mixture is then transported through the discharge pipe to a designated location. This could be a settling pond, a pipeline, or another area where the dredged material is deposited.
  6. Repeat: The process is repeated continuously as the dredge pump draws in more water and sediment from the intake location. The pump’s efficiency depends on factors such as the design of the impeller, the power of the motor driving the pump, and the size and type of sediment being dredged.
